Data Analytics Platform Capabilities: Taxonomy

We’re often asked to compare what we’re doing to other projects; we find that it’s easier to do this at the capability level, rather than diving straight into technologies.  Hence we’ve defined this taxonomy (acknowledgement to Pete Rai and his IOT “brain diagram”):

In PNDA, as an evolving project, we aim to expand the PNDA capability footprint driven by the community and user requirements; current support in PNDA looks like this:

Greyed out areas are in the project backlog; if there are capabilities missing on PNDA that you’d like to see – let us know, and if there are contributions you’d like make we would welcome your support.

This is only one dimension; there are other lenses to apply when comparing data analytics platforms, e.g.: which markets and use cases it addresses, whether it is vertically or horizontally integrated, whether it is open source or closed source.
